Candle Care

Q1. How long should I burn my candle the first time?

A: Burn your candle for at least 2–3 hours the first time, or until the wax melts all the way to the edges. This helps prevent a tunnel from forming.

Q2. Why is my candle burning unevenly?

A: It may be because the candle is placed in a windy area or directly under a fan. Make sure it’s on a flat surface and away from fans or open windows.

Q3. How do I stop my candle from tunneling?

A: Always let the top layer of wax melt fully before blowing it out. This creates a smooth, even burn. To cure a tunneling candle, head to our Instagram DM to know a quick fix.

Q4. How do I trim the wick and why is it important?

A: Trim the wick to about ¼ inch (0.6 cm) before each burn with scissors or a wick trimmer. It keeps the flame clean, prevents smoke, and makes your candle last longer.

Q5. Is it safe to burn a candle for a long time?

A: The National Candle Association recommends burning for no more than 3–4 hours at a time. Let the wax cool before lighting it again.

Q6. What should I do if my candle is smoking?

A: Blow it out, trim the wick a bit shorter, and relight it. Long wicks or drafts can cause smoke.

Q7. Can I reuse the jar once the candle is finished?

A: Yes! Just clean out any leftover wax by pouring hot water in the jar or freezing the candle jar for 24 hours—this will make the leftover wax pop out easily. Wash it using soap and water and use it for plants, pens, or even more candles.

Q8. How do I safely put out a candle?

A: Use a snuffer, wave your hand thoroughly, or gently blow it out. Don’t use water—it can make the wax splatter.

Q9. What’s the best way to store my candles?

A: Keep them in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. This helps the scent and color last longer.

Q10. Why is the flame dancing or flickering a lot?

A: That usually means there’s a draft nearby. Move the candle to a spot with still air.

Q11. How do I know my candle is finished?

A: Stop using your candle when about ½ inch of wax remains at the bottom.
